Questions

Where do I paste this one?
Into the search box of a vendor's sell window, or of the stash tab you are cleaning out. It works anywhere the game gives you a box over a pile of equipment — your inventory included.
How does the socket filter work?
The game writes the sockets as letters joined by dashes, and the search box reads that line like any other. Painting a chain of four with two blues asks for four linked sockets, two of them blue, in whatever order the game printed them.
Can it find chromatic recipe items?
That is the Chromatic preset: red, green and blue linked, in all six orders the game may print them. It is 35 characters, so there is room left for the mods you also care about.
Why can I not ask for two linked sockets?
Because the answer would be every item in the window. Almost anything with two sockets has them linked, so the filter would cost characters and rule nothing out — the control starts at three, which is the shortest chain worth asking about.
Why are the patterns such odd little fragments?
Each one is the shortest piece of text that appears on its own mod and on nothing else the window can show — checked against every equipment base, unique, gem and flask name in the game before it ships. Short patterns are what let you ask for a dozen mods inside 250 characters.
Does it work on a Russian client?
The mods do: they are generated from the game's own Russian text, so switch the site language and the string follows. The socket letters stay English in every client — checked in a live Russian one, where "g-g" finds items and "к-б" finds nothing.
Why does my string not fit?
The field takes 250 characters and a wide socket request can eat all of them: three named colours anywhere in a six-link is over two thousand characters, because every order the game might print them in has to be spelled out. Narrow the chain and it collapses to a fraction of that.
